Swimming Lessons in the Fall

One of the nice things about living where we do is that it's warm enough in the fall that the swimming pools are still open. Which means that swimming lessons are extended into September and October. Which makes it nice for Jaxen. He loves swimming! This would be his last day of swimming lessons for the year(Sept. 19, 2013).
He's doing really well and learning a lot. He's starting to figure out how to float and kick. He's getting better with the different arm strokes, he just needs to remember to turn his head to the side to breathe instead of lifting his whole head up. That's the main thing he needs to practice.
He's having a lot of fun though. He really likes his teacher. I forget what his name was but he was excellent with the kids. All of the instructors he's had so far have been really amazing. They all have known how to work with the kids and encourage them well. I've been very happy for Jaxen to have someone who he was able to connect with and trust while teaching him to swim.
I really appreciated how friendly everyone was. It made it easier since I spent most of the time chasing after Jaden while Jaxen swam. :)
I will probably say this a lot but one of my most favorite things as a mom is being able to see my child learn and do something they love and enjoy. Seeing Jaxen learn to swim and begin to succeed at it  has been one of those times for me. He still gets frustrated because he's not swimming like everyone else. But he's come so far and we're so proud of him for not giving up.
It's been a good couple of months for swimming lessons. Jaxen still has a couple techniques that he needs to improve on before they're comfortable letting him move on to the next level. Which is okay. There's nothing wrong with needing a little more time to figure something out and allowing yourself to get better at it.
That is something that I hope Jaxen will always remember. To not strive for perfection but aim to be better than you were yesterday.
Be proud of yourself for all that you have accomplished and for learning from your mistakes.
I love you so much Jaxen! I know you can do great things! I always have and I always will believe in you!
