Jaden's First Solid Food Feeding!

At Jaden's 4 month check up our pediatrician said it was okay to start giving Jaden some rice cereal. So on father's day, June 19th, we gave him his first taste of food. I had some breastmilk in the freezer. I thawed it and mixed it with some rice cereal. He did really well. I was surprised. He actually seemed to like it and he figured out how to swallow rather quickly. It still got all over his face, but he did pretty good. He ate for a few minutes and then was done. It was still so cute. I love the first feedings. The looks he gave was priceless.

It was so cute. Afterwards he just had the expression of happy contentment. A new way to fill his seemingly empty tummy!

Jaxen's Preschool Graduation!

June 17th was Jaxen's preschool graduation. He's been going to the Treehouse Learning Center for the last couple years and has loved it! He's worked real hard learning to write his letters. He's had great teachers. Mona, Rachel and Pearly we love you guys! The graduation was so fun. The kids learned some songs and sang for us. They even did the graduation walk. Jaxen was so cute. As they called his name he was the only kid to skip and jump to recieve his diploma. After the ceremony they danced and had snacks. It was a happy day! I can hardly believe my little boy is going to start kindergarten in August. It still seems a bit sureal to me. Wasn't he just a baby? Where did that time go? He's growing up so fast! I do love watching him though. I love his excitment when he learns new things. The look on his face is priceless! I am excited for him to start kindergarten. When we went to meet his kindergarten teacher she said he is more than ready to start kindergarten! Yeah! Thank you Treehouse for soing such a wonderful job! Congratulations Jaxen! We love you and know you will learn and do great things!

Muir Beach!

June 16th we made a day trip to the beach. It was actually a surprise for me. I've been wanting to go back to the beach for so long. We hadn't been since beofore I was pregnant with Jaden. So I guess I must have done enough hinting because Ron had planned it out and surprised me! I love the beach! I love the ocean! I love going there as much as I loved camping in the mountains where I grew up. One of our favorite things to do is to stand next to each other and hold hands and wait for the waves to come and splash on our feet. The kids love the chase and race the waves. They will run up and down the beach. It's so fun to watch. Last year Jaxen started warming up to the idea of playing in the water. Until then he was content to play and dig in the sand. But now he will run and splash and play in the water with Kaeryn and Tristan. It's so wonderful! They get so excited when the waves come in.

We like Muir Beach because it has some really dramatic areas. Also it's dog friendly and Kati was able to come with us instead of being home alone all day. She's not a fan of the water( which for the life of me I can't figure out why. She's supposed to be a water dog) but she was happy to be with us. She actually did better this time and would walk in the water without pulling us over trying to get out of it. Maybe someday she'll realize that she's a water dog and will want to chase the waves as well.

We love walking along the shoreline. The sand is very soft at this beach and it felt so good on our feet. Of course I had sprained my ankle a few days before so I didn't walk around to much. But I sure loved watching my family. The kids get so excited when they find shells or really cool rocks. I love watching them explore. It's so wonderful to see them get excited over the same things that I get excited for.

This was Jaden's first time to the beach. He wasn't so fond if it. I think it was a bit too overwhelming for him. There was so much going on. As long as daddy was holding him he would snuggle up to him, look around a bit and put his head back down. With mommy, he just wanted to comfort nurse and even that proved to be hard for him with the loud noises all around. It also might have to do with the fact that Jaden doesn't sleep in the car. He is the only baby I know that doesn't fall asleep while riding in the car. He prefers to look around. So because he didn't sleep on the drive to the beach, he was a bit tired. But that's okay, he'll have plenty of opportunities to get used to the sites and sounds and the joys of the beach and ocean! I know he'll love it as much as the rest of us.

It was a perfect day. Even with Jaden's fussiness, it still was a wonderful day. We could've stayed there forever. We will be back real soon!

Feeding the Ducks!

This was actually back on June 10th, 2011. We took Jaden to feed the ducks for the first time. It was a great day. We actually hadn't done this as a family for a long time. We went to the Elk Grove City Park. The pond is actually quite big. The kids had a blast feeding the ducks. Of course the more they fed the more ducks would show up. I think their favorite part was there were a couple mommy ducks and several cute little ducklings! They are so adorable! The park is big enough that we were able to walk around and let the boys run around and explore for a couple hours. It was alot of fun. I had to laugh though because I finally got extra batteries for my camera and I forgot to bring them! At least I was able to get a few photos of the kids. This one of Jaden and the one of Jaxen and Jaden from the previous post are two of my favorites!

Stroller rides

Before Jaden was born we decided to get a new stroller. I wanted to get a sit and stand stroller so Jaxen could ride if he needed to. This one has been great. It had a universal attachment for car seats for newborns. Well Jaden isn't much of a fan of his car seat. He likes to look around. So for today's walk we decided to see how he would do in the chair of the stroller. He still can't sit up on his own but we thought we would just try it. Turns out that despite the fact that he can't sit up by himself, he loved sitting in his stroller. He really did. No fussy sounds came from him the whole time we were out. I guess we'll get a little pillow for him to help prop him up until he's able to sit by himself. I think I like the switch better as well. We had fun as we made our way to feed the ducks. It was Jaden's first time doing that also.
