The Discovery Museum

This Presidents day we went to the Discovery Museum in Sacramento. It was really fun. It's a smaller museum compared to the other ones we have been to but the great thing about this museum was that it was all hands on. There's a play room that the kids went to first and it was so cute. They had two big dinosaurs for petting and benches and bookshelves and puzzles and a puppet theater. They had alot of different rocks and minerals and magnifying glasses so the kids could look at them. Jaxen was so funny when he first looked into the magnifying glass, he was so amazed at how big everything looked. He would say " Whoa" and " Wow, look at that!" It was great. Unfortunatly I forgot to charge my camera so I didn't get many pictures but we definitly plan to go back so then I can get more. They had some really cool things there. There is also a planetarium presentation but Jaxen has to be 4 before he can go so after his next birthday we might go again to see that. I loved to see how excited the kids were about learning. We figured that there are only two more museums in Sacramento that we still have to go to, the Aerospace museuam and the Govenor's mansion. Probably in the next few weeks we'll go to the aerospace museum. It really was alot of fun! I love going places with my family!

Tristans 7th Birthday!

This weekend was Tristan's birthday. He turned the big 7! For his party he wanted to go bowling. We had alot of fun! There is a family friendly bowling alley in Elk Grove so we went there. We set it up so Kaeryn, Tristan and Jaxen would have the bumpers and then Ron and I and Kat went without. It's all electric and when you type in your name in the computer you can mark wether you wanted the bumper or not and it automatically brings the bumper up when it's your turn. Tristan did really well and he actually won. It was alot of fun to watch the kids. After bowling we came home for dinner. Tristan asked for daddy's famous homade mac and cheese. He also asked if I would make my homade ice cream, chocolate with andes mints. After dinner he opened his presents. He was so cute about it and was so excited and happy! His big gift for this birthday was his very own nintendo ds. He was very excited about that! He and Kaeryn have had to go back and forth with daddy's ds, he loves having his own. After he opened his presents we celebrated with his cake. This year he asked for daddy's famous cheese cake. So yummy! All three kids helped to make it that morning. They did a fantastic job, it was so YUMMY! The ice cream was more like a shake but it was still very tasty( i'm still a beginner at making ice cream, eventually I will get better). It was a very good day. You could tell that Tristan was so happy and excited because his eyes were lit up all day. We love you Tristan! We are so happy that you are a part of our family! Happy Birthday to you!

Playing in the Park

Another fun day at the park. One thing I really like about Sacramento is that there are so many public parks. It make life with kids easier with so many places to go for them to burn off all their energy. It's also one of my favorite places to get candid photos of the kids. I think I have the cutest kids ever!!!

Sacramento Zoo

Febuary 6th was museum day here in Sacramento which meant that several of the museums were free entrance including the zoo. We decided to go to the zoo since we hadn't been there yet and we have been to many of the museums already. It was alot of fun! It's not a big zoo, but it was still very enjoyable. Ron felt it was the perfect size. As long as I get to see the animals, i don't really care how big or small it is. We love wildlife and loved seeing all the animals. The only line we had to wait in was for the reptile house. The kids really liked that one. I loved the snakes and the poison dart frogs. Jaxen liked the crocodile. Kaeryn and Tristan liked it all. Although Tristan kept asking to go see the tigers, he said his favorite was the red pandas. Ron loves the big cats. I love it all! I don't think I can say I have a favorite because all animals amaze me. I did think it was really cool that the zoo vet hospital had large windows to look inside and I could show the kids what I was in school for. As much as I miss the vet world, I don't have any regrets about leaving it. But I did really love being able to share that part of me with the kids. We had alot of fun! It was great to see the kids reactions when the animals would move around. Especially the chimpanzees. They started climbing up their ropes and into the hammocks. I loved hearing "Look look!" It was so cute. It was a wonderful day and it didn't rain the whole time we were there. That was a bonus. I definitly would like to go back again and maybe try the train ride when its sunny out.

Japanese Tea Gardens!

After the King Tut exhibit we decided to go to the Japanese Tea Gardens in the Golden Gate park. It was beautiful! Again, not very crowded. We ordered some tea. I got the Jasmine tea and Ron got the green tea. As we sat there drinking our tea we both talked about how tranquil we felt there and that we really could sit there all day. It was so peaceful! We loved walking through the gardens. I had alot of fun taking photos. I want to go back there in the spring when the blossoms are out.

After we left the gardens, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. Ron took me to "Kincades". I think that's how you spell it. It was my first 3 star resturant. I've never been to a rated resturant before. It was so YUMMY! We started out with the best tomato basil soup with some bread. We both had steaks for the main course and then we shared a dessert of strawberries, chocolate torte and another pudding like thing that I can't remember what it was called but it was heavenly!!!!!!! It was one of the best meals i've ever had! The best part was that I was able to share it with Ron! He really is the most amazing person I know! I love you with all my heart! Happy 5th Anniversary Sweetheart! It's been the best five years! We've had so many adventures together and i can't wait to fill up the next five years with more memories! I love you Ron!!!!!!!!!!

King Tut exhibit!

The next day came the surprise of the Tutankhamun exhibit! I was so excited about this one! Ron and I both love history and this was perfect for us. The exhibit was at the De Young Museum in the Golden Gate park. It was amazing, beautiful, fascinating, educational! Loved it!!!!!!! Ron has been listening to history series while driving to work and he had learned about it and was able to tell me about everything while we walked through the exhibit. His memory amazes me. Ron's favorite part of the exhibit was the statue of King Tut's father and my favorite part of the exhibit was the canopic stopper of Tutankhamun. The whole exhibit was wonderful. Of course, we weren't allowed to take photos of the exhibit. They did have a published book of the exhibit so we got one of those to show the kids what we saw. It was a wonderful surprise.

Ghirardelli Square!

After the beach we decided to drive back into San Fransisco. We stopped at the famous Ghirardelli Square! It was great! Everyone knows how much I love chocolate. There are a few other store's in the square but of course our main focus was Ghirardelli chocolate shop. It was heavenly. We stopped in at the cafe shop and got the best decadent hot cocoa ever! You also got to see how they made their chocolate. While we were watching, they handed out free samples. It was such a happy place! We're definitly going back!

Happy 5th anniversary to us!

January 28th was our 5th wedding anniversary! I can't believe it's been five years already! I love my Ron so very much! Ron surprised me this year and took me away! Yeah! He had arranged for Jaxen and Kati to stay with Kat during that week. I really had no idea what he had planned. I knew he was planning something because for month's he's been talking about it but he kept everything a secret. Our first night after we dropped off Jaxen and Kati we went to see the movie "Avatar" in 3D. It was so cool! I love 3D movies. I really enjoyed to movie as well. After the movie we drove to San Fransisco! I love going there! It's such a fun place. It was really late when we got there so we just went to the hotel. The next day we took a drive on the highway along the ocean. Ron knows how much I love to see the ocean. We ended up stopping in Pacifica and found this really nice beach. It was a perfect time because there wasn't anyone on the beach. The sun was shining which was a relief because it has been raining like crazy this month. We just sat there on the beach watching the waves come in and ships off in the distance. We just relaxed and took in all the beauty. I love taking the kids to the beach and watching them play but it was so nice to be there with just Ron. I brought my new camera and had so much fun taking pictures. We sat on the beach for a couple hours. It was so perfect! I love to ocean! I can't wait to go back. I definitly want to take the kids to this beach. And we found out it's a beach we can bring Kati to as well, of course she has to be on leash, but she can play at this beach. It was a wonderful day!
