Happy Birthday Jaxen!

June 7th was Jaxen's fifth birthday! I can hardly believe it's been five years already. We still had our family celebration. We left the decorations up from his birthday party. He was very happy to still have them hanging up. I kept the mario theme going with his cake. This time making a yellow star cake and then placing some mario action figures around it. He was thrilled when he saw it. His eyes just lit up and he had the biggest smile. He absolutely loves mario! His other big thrill was we finally got him his very own nintendo DS. Of course it came with mario games! We had alot of fun celebrating Jaxen. It was such a great day! Happy Birthday Jaxen! We love you so much!

Jaden's new skills!

I love watching the kids grow and learn new things. Especially when they are babies. They are like little scientists making new discoveries every day. Jaden has started to open his hands and grab onto things. He loves to suck on his fingers but he still prefers his binky. He also loves to explore his toys. He's learning how to hold onto them. It's so fun to watch. Pretty soon we'll be playing ball! I can't wait! Love you Jaden!

Daddy time!

One of my most favorite things is seeing Ron snuggle and play with the kids. He is a great daddy! This was a fun moment, he and Jaden were having fun playing and snuggling on our bed. It was so sweet. Jaden is very much a mommy's boy and so when he does have play time with daddy, Ron just soaks it all in. I do have lots of daddy pictures but this is one of my favorites. Such a happy memory! I love you Ron!

Birthday Party Fun!

This year for Jaxen's birthday he had his very first friend birthday party! We celebrated with a couple of his friends from preschool on June 4th. He was so excited. He choose to have a Mario party. I found some mario paper plates and cut mario out for decorations. We did chocolate cupcakes with mario red and blue colors. I made yellow chocolate stars to go on top of them. They turned out so yummy and I have to say I thought they turned out pretty darn cute too!

he was all smiles that day! I was having so much fun watching him. I can't believe how much our little Jaxen has grown.

I thought it would be fun since we were having a mario party that we could play mario inspired games. So I set up some green poster board as the green pipes that the kids had to run through, then they bounced on some couch cushions to get to bowser. They had three soft balls as their fire power to defeat bowser. Tristan just happened to have a stuffed bowser that he let us use. It was perfect. The kids had so much fun.

Jaxen loved his mario cupcakes! He was in mario heaven that day. He absolutely loves mario and playing the mario games!

He also asked for a pinata. I found this star one and put mario on it. It was also perfect! Although it was a bit tough to crack it open in the house. We were originally going to have his party at the park, but it decided to rain that day so we scrambled to have it in the house. Tristan(that's him in his mario costume) ended up knocking it down from the ceiling and then they just swatted it on the floor. It was so much fun! I can't wait to have another party next year! happy Birthday Jaxen! We love you!

DVD Player Time!

Jaxen and I have a deal each day. When the evening news is on, mommy gets to watch the news and Jaxen can watch a dvd on the portable dvd player. He really looks forward to this time each day. He is always asking if the news is on yet or if it's dvd player time. It works for me because I can watch the news with little interuption and Jaxen is entertained and doesn't pay much attention to the news. I can also get dinner made without him following me around. I think it's adorable though when he sets himself up and gets all comfortable and snuggles up on the couch with his head phones on and pillow. It makes me smile. I had to take a picture of him. This photo is one of my favorites, classic moment! I love my little Jaxen!

Learning new skills!

One of my favorite things about being a mom is watching my kids grow and learn new things. Jaden is starting to open up his fists and grab onto his toys. This is one of the first times he has done this. In this picture he didn't recognize he had something in his hands but he did hold on to it for a few minutes. Since then he has started looking at his dangling toys and if they are resting on his tummy he will do a scoop like thing with his fists and in some cases he will bring them to his mouth and start sucking on them. I love watching him explore his new world. He's such a cute boy!

Jazz festival and jubilee!

May 29th we went to Old Sacramento for the Jazz festival and Jubilee. It was a lot of fun. However, I think they should have changed the name to the blue's festival because there was more blues playing than Jazz. Still it was fun. There were several street venders and of course we visited some of our favorite shops there. There's a new place that opened that makes mini doughnuts. They are very tasty. They make them as you order them and you can ask for what ever toppings you would like. The kids especially like that part. There's also a shop that makes french fries as yo order them and they have different toppings as well. The french fries are made to different themes of different countries. They are the yummiest fries we've had do far. Jaden did better this time than last, he did chill out in the stroller for a while but he did eventually get restless and want to get out and be held and fed and rocked to sleep. I did manage to find a quiet place to feed him before we left. Someday he will enjoy the attractions like this cute little monkey. He was so adorable. I gave the kids each a coin and the monkey would come and take it out of their hands. Even Jaxen let the monkey take it from his hand. Jaxen said his hand was wet from licking his hand and that when he took the quarter it tickled. We really had fun watching that monkey. It was such a fun day and the perfect day to go. It wasn't too hot and there was a slight breeze. Loved it! Old Sacramento is one of our favorite places to visit, we look forward to our next visit there.
