Western Festival Parade

This weekend in Elk Grove was the western festival. We looked forward to the parade because we had fun last year. The kids have been talking about it for the last few weeks.
To our surprise we woke up to a rainy morning. At first we weren't sure if we should go or not because we didn't want to drive all down there for it to be cancelled. But the kids really wanted to go. Yeah! It wasn't cancelled. We did miss some of the beginning of the parade but most of the parade we were able to see. Of course after we had left we realized that we had left our chairs at home. Ron did not want to go back home so we had to stand. The kids actually had fun, even Jaxen. We loved the horses and Jaxen and Tristan love the fire engine. There were alot of other cool cars and bands. The kids got lots of candy and one of the local grocery stores handed out reusable bags with bottled water. It was fun. While we were standing there watching in the rain, Ron and I looked at eachother and said that it felt like we were back in washington. I mentioned that we should go and get hot chocolate afterwards because that is what we would have done if we were in washington. But Ron had another idea. He wanted to do something different. Hot chocolate was our washington tradition and he wanted to start a california tradition.

So we went and got frozen yogurt instead! The kids love this place because it's a build your own place. So this is our after parade tradition now. Even in the rain!
